For anyone looking to machine a precision platter for their lathe, we've been sent a fantastic set of files ready for machining and we're making them freely available to download and use.
A huge thanks to Genre Rec for putting the time into creating these and sharing them openly with the community. This kind of contribution makes a real difference, particularly for those without access to a new platter or the means to source one.
- Holes for the grub screws are M4, these are to adjust the level of the platter
- Material: 5083 aluminium, precision-milled on both sides
- Thickness of these files: 6mm
Please note, different thickness of plate work for different turntables, for example a Numark needs a 6mm thick plate to account for the spindle, whereas a Stanton or Technics type platter can take a thicker plate, such as 8mm.
