Groove Depth Measuring Kit
Groove Depth Measuring Kit
This is a kit for measuring groove depth. It includes a camera (compatible with both Mac and Windows) and a reticle measurement slide. We have tried to find the most economical way of doing this for the most affordable price. There have been test cuts analysed by a top plating facility and the groove depth measured from this method aligned with their high end, precision equipment.
Instructions:
1) Set up your cutterhead weight as you normally would.
2) Place the reticle slide onto the disc, positioning it directly over the grooves (use a test disc for setup). Make sure the slide is upside down, so the measurements align with the grooves.
3) Place the camera to the slide and capture the image.
4) The camera features an adjustable light control on its cable (see attached images). Use this to fine-tune the lighting based on the colour of your blanks, adjusting it to achieve the clearest possible image.
5)A depth of 50µm (2mil) is typically ideal, which corresponds to 2 divisions on the slider. Adjust the head weight as needed.
Try not to touch the reticle slide with your fingers, it is easy to get finger prints and grease which makes for a blurry image!
